# Defect CFT Just like a [[0548 Boundary CFT|BCFT]], a CFT living on a manifold with boundary, having a lower-dimensional defect in a CFT can also make the theory richer. The defect can be codimension-one, in which case it is called an interface, or of higher codimensions in general. For defect CFTs, constraints from conformal symmetry are less powerful than for CFTs. A full classification of conformal defects is not known except for some simple examples. An alternative approach is therefore to work with numerical simulations. ## Refs - holography - [[2018#Gutperle, Miller]]: $U(1)$ [[0089 Chern-Simons theory|CS]] theory - [[2024#Afxonidis, Karch, Murdia]]: $g$-functions of interface CFT from holography - bootstrap - [[2023#Gabai, Sever, Zhong]]: bootstrapping the line defect - [[0131 Information paradox|information paradox]] - [[AnousMeineriPelliconiSonner2022]][](https://arxiv.org/pdf/2202.11718.pdf): interface CFT and islands - universal behaviour of [[0301 Entanglement entropy|EE]] - [[KarchWang2022]][](https://arxiv.org/pdf/2211.09148.pdf): demonstrates the universal behaviour of EE in ICFT for *any* holographical ICFTs ## Related - [[0548 Boundary CFT]]
