# Defect CFT
Just like a [[0548 Boundary CFT|BCFT]], a CFT living on a manifold with boundary, having a lower-dimensional defect in a CFT can also make the theory richer. The defect can be codimension-one, in which case it is called an interface, or of higher codimensions in general.
For defect CFTs, constraints from conformal symmetry are less powerful than for CFTs. A full classification of conformal defects is not known except for some simple examples. An alternative approach is therefore to work with numerical simulations.
