# Scherk-Schwarz compactification Starting with a field theory compactified on a circle with anti-periodic boundary conditions for fermions, the resulting lower-dimensional theory is confining, and in particular, undergoes a deconfinement phase transition at a temperature of order the Kaluza-Klein scale. As an example, to study confining gauge theory on $\text{dS}{}_{d−1}$, one needs only study conformal field theory on $S^1_{SS}\times \text{dS}_{d−1}$. ## Refs - related - [[0231 Bulk solutions for CFTs on non-trivial geometries]] - [[2010#Marolf, Rangamani, van Raamsdonk]] - [[2011#Blackman.
