# FZZT brane In Liouville field theory, when there is a finite boundary, one can choose a particular boundary condition called the FZZT boundary conditions. This boundary is then referred to as an FZZT brane. ## FZZT vs ZZ Unlike [[0652 ZZ brane|ZZ branes]], which are unstable and localised in the strong coupling region of the Liouville direction, FZZT branes are stable and extend in the Liouville direction. FZZT boundaries are analogues of Neumann boundary conditions, whereas ZZ boundaries are analogues of Dirichlet boundary conditions. In other words, ZZ branes are thin, while FZZT branes are thick (in some sense). ## Refs - original - [[2000#Fateev, Zamolodchikov, Zamolodchikov]] - [[2000#Teschner]] ## Related topics - [[0652 ZZ brane]] - [[0642 Boundary Liouville CFT]]
